Question Pc is running super choppy & slow after I completely restarted my pc. Any idea why?

I restarted my pc completely buy it failed so I had to reinstall windows from a flash drive. After this I noticed my pc being super choppy and even worse then before the restart. I don't know why this is happening but I can't even play my games without them feeling choppy. Even when I open up a program it takes longer then usual to open up. Any idea why this is happening? Thank you

Like? I tried installing my gpu drivers and it says this

What is the space left on your C drive? And I hope you didn't install Windows on the HDD instead of the SSD (that would explain the choppiness). But the fact that Windows broke after a reboot points to a hardware problem, likely the drive. Could your SSD failed and you reinstalled Windows on your HDD without realizing it?

how can i check where i have it installed?

when i reinstalled windows for some reason my hdd still had program files from apps i used before could that have something to do with it

First, you should open a Windows Explorer window and click on "This PC". Then make sure your C drive is the SSD. Also make sure you have enough space left on it (Nvidia installer is complaining that you may be out of space).

I don't think having old program data left on the HDD would cripple your new Windows install (unless they got installed after your new installation), but if you didn't installed anything on it after the fresh install you could format it to make sure there's nothing bad remaining (like a virus). Do a backup of the files you whish to keep first if you want to do that.

search in windows
disk management or create and format hard disk partitions. click it
look for disc 0 this is your C drive right click over 0 drive > properties> name of drive should be visable.

back up all files you want to keep to a usb.

do a complete reinstall via https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

do not choose iso image other option as a boot option.

window to usb youll get to a option of make a back up for this windows pc unclick it and it will give you a complete vanilla os.

option 2 is do a reset this pc when it asks you to keep files say no. this should wipe everything off but isnt a complete reinstall just removes all extra files apart from windows.
 
Did you always have those two drives? I first thought you were talking about programs you manually installed on your HDD but if those are Windows files then this could be very messy (it's like Windows got installed on the HDD at some point).

But my previous comment still stands: make sure your SSD is now your C drive and format the HDD. Reinstalling Windows on the SSD after your HDD got wiped out could also help (you could even remove the HDD before the installation just to make sure and put it back once it's done).

Looks like you have another old Windows installation on your D drive. You should format it to remove those file (they are probably harmless but just in case). What is on your C? How much space do you have left on it?

What does it say when you just click on "This PC"? You should have all drives listed there with the space used on each of them. Your C should be almost empty. If one of the drives is full that would tell us something (again, I find it suspicious that Nvidia driver setup says there is no space left).

You could also open a task manager and look at the memory usage. If it's close to 100% that would explain why Nvidia setup also said you could be running out of memory. With 16 GB you should not be using more than 20-30% at idle (likely even less if you have a fresh install without any app running in background).

If neither drive is full and you have enough available RAM, I would personally physically unplug the HDD and reinstall Windows on the SSD. There could be still a boot partition on the HDD from the old Windows installation that is messing things up. If your Windows is still clunky after a reinstall on the SSD without the HDD connected, then there could be something wrong with the SSD, the RAM, the MB or the CPU.

How can I check if windows is installed in my HDD because my HDD folder is now empty and I restarted my bios to default settings. Do you still recommend reinstalling windows with my hdd unplugged? Sorry for the late response haven't been on my pc due to it being like this.

Can it also be that windows loads up with something called volume 2 ? ever since I restarted the pc it asked me if i want volume 2 or 6 im so confused on what that is i just went this volume 2.
