Raid 0 help

So I built my computer about 5 months ago and I have now decided to do a raid 0 with my OS drive. I have a Samsung 840 series and and Samsung evo 840 series drive, both of which are 120gb drives. I just wanna know how to do the raid 0 without losing any data. I already backed up my drive and have both installed. You would have to move all your data elsewhere while the array is built, but reconsider -- RAID for SSDs is not beneficial for home users and will only cause you heartache. Use the second SSD as a separate data/program drive.

I kinda wanted it for convenience so i wont be moving programs from drive to drive. what kind of heartache does it cause though? i have the 1tb HDD for the extra data and stuff. Thanks for the quick response 😀

There would be no need to 'move programs back and forth'. Applications can be installed on any drive desired. C (SSD #1), D (SSD #2), E (HDD).

I have two SSD's, both 128GB, and it works perfectly as simply two different drives.

With RAID 0, you risk losing all of it if either drive dies, or the RAID array gets corrupted. And it won't be any faster.

RAID arrays break, especially those based on a motherboard controller, and it seems to cause more issues with the OS install when a problem occurs. If you are doing it for more space and do good backup it makes more sense. But even a bios update can blow up your array.

oh, okay. thank you for the help then. i guess i wont raid if it is a bigger problem then a convenience.
