Raid 0 with two SSD's (Low Write speeds)

Solution
I don't need benchmarks to tell me what I saw when working in a repair shop. I had more failures with Mushkin SSDs than Samsung or Intel (the two top SSD brands).

You can have the best performance but if it doesn't last or fails faster it is pointless.

Again, I am trying to help so make sure you have the latest AMD chipset, AHCI and RAID drivers installed.
Well first thing, RAID 0 is almost pointless for SSDs. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference if I put a non RAID0 and RAID0 in front of you.

Second, it might be the SSDs are not working with the controller properly. What RAID controller are you using? Did you create the RAID in Windows or in firmware?

I did this because i had one 60gb already and after 2 years of use i felt like a need a bit more of space on the SSD. 120 gb are plenty now.

So i made the SSD on the firmware and i got the AMD sata controller drivers installed! I have to mention tha even before the raid both SSDs were showing low write speeds something like 450mb/s read and 60mb/s write.

I got the latest drivers for everything...

Look at the ATTO benchmark aswell please 😀

I said 'bad', because you mentioned "low write speeds".

Please enlighten me 😛

Yes I have. I wouldn't use it personally, I have always used Corsair and never had an issue. We had more issues with it than Corsair but less than with most value brands.

That is the problem with making assumptions, you assume something that is completely wrong. I have been working with PCs for a long enough time to know when to call something what it is. Mushkin is meh. It is not amazing but it is not crap. If I bought a new SSD it would be between a Samsung or Intel. If I bought new RAM it would most likely be Corsair. If I bought a new PSU it would be Corsair or Seasonic.

This is not helping the OP but he hasn;t really replied to my suggestion so meh.

like 10 gbs available... But i was just trying not to put anything on it...

Now i got the whole glitchy batman on it (50gbs) and im not getting any tearing...

Sure, the Dominator Platinum series are phenomenal. The Redlines are no joke though, far from "meh." I'll agree their SSDs are rather lackluster but my question wasn't an assumption it was rhetorical.

Well i never had a problem with the first drive and i really trust muskin out of my experience! So by the time i have the bugdet I will surely go for intel or samsung! For the time being i will stick with this combo.... Thanx for the replies mate 😀

2 x 120GB SSD + RAID 0 = 240GB
2 x 120GB SSD with no RAID 0 = 240GB
Your only real benefit is a single drive letter, vs a C and D drive.

Personally, real world performance is what counts for me, because I live in the real world.
For some certain edge cases? Sure...RAID 0 can be a HUGE benefit. For instance, writing a large video file from 1 RAID 0 array to another RAID 0 array.

Since few people have that requirement or setup...and if it doesn't improve performance for what the vast majority of people may use it for....why bother?

Because it has a benefit for servers or people doing large data scrubbing or compiling. You're absolutely right, 2x256GB RAID0 is generally worse than 512GB RAID0 for probably 90% or more of this forum's userbase.

RAID0 can still improve performance.

Which is what we've been saying all along.
