I'm using an old Shuttle PC as my NAS. It's equipped with a couple of 2TB SATA drives, running Windows 8. The drives are mirrored. The machine is dying and I wanted to switch to a NAS enclosure solution.

Can someone recommend an enclosure such that I don't need to format these drives? It's a hassle to migrate the data since all my other drives are pretty small. I have Windows and OS X boxes in the house so the enclosure would need to be compatible with both. Thanks!

Hello there, delingren!

Well, since you have RAID 1 each drive will be able to function as a standalone HDD as well. You could hook one up to the computer as read-only and/or keep it aside at least (as a backup). New enclosure means different RAID controller which I wouldn't risk with the data.
What you could do is get a third identical HDD with the enclosure and try to rebuild the RAID 1.
Better safe than sorry!
As an official representative of a brand, I cannot discuss specific enclosures, but I believe you could check the "Cases" articles and posts from the community: http://www.tomshardware.com/t/cases/

Hope this helped. :)
