I have a disk array that won't keep online. When it's turned on, all the lights will flicker like its trying to start up and then they all go dark again. The strange thing is that after attempting to boot it up once, the enclosure won't do anything afterwards until it's unplugged for a few moments and then plugged back in again.
We have five hard drives in the array and we popped them out to test if they were healthy and they all showed as healthy drives. I've attempted to replace drives with a new blank one and that will sometimes allow it stay on as the array seems to rebuild itself. But if the array shuts down for any reason then it won't turn back on again.
We bought a new 5-bay enclosure to test out but it's doing all of the same things as the old one. There was a power outage recently and we were concerned that might have played a role in what's going on. I've switched cables and even outlets but none of that seems to be helping either. Any ideas on what might be happening with this disk array? Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.
