I'd love to see the series come back toward the original games. I loved the planning phases and jumping between each fire team. If something went wrong, you had no one to blame but yourself. Multiplayer was real interesting since single shots could kill. And once you were out, you were out for the whole match.

Having played the Alpha I can tell you this game needs A LOT more time in production. Now I know people will say "it was an alpha" but even for an Alpha it was bad (and I've play tested over 50 pre-release games). Combined with the fact that Ubisoft has a tradition of releasing games in terrible states makes this a no buy for me. I'm hoping a year or two after the original release date they'll have the game fixed up so I can buy it though.

The graphics are terrible and not nearly as good as the doctored footage they show.

I spent month playing Rogue Spear....not hours as games are measured but MONTHS, it was an amazing game.

Having said that, people always say they will buy something when they clearly will not. Every shooter out there is no longer a tactical shooter, CoD, Hardline, Crysis, Halo, Titanfall, really any shooter is now just hide and you recover.

People want action, quick fights, fast recovery.

I guess what i would like to see is an option in settings where you can chose that tactical mode, i don't think it should be that difficult.

I've played every rainbow six including the first one from the 90's back on my 120mhz pc with a 3dfx voodoo card. I loved being the host and restricting weapons, and doing Pistol only matches which were awesome. Sadly that was lost in newer versions :-(

What exactly don't you like about the game. I just finished playing Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, it is also a Ubisoft game from 2012. It looked good, not as good as Crysis 3 but Crysis is newer and hungrier and honestly graphics are the main selling point.

If the game looked solid in 2012 i don't think Ubisoft will release a bad looking game in 2015. Ghost Recon may not have been the best game i played, but it was a solid game. Plus seeing what Ubisoft did with Assassins Creed i believe they know how to do graphics right these days.

Isn't the Alpha for testing mostly programming logic / hit box-type stuff? So they put the meh textures in as filler. BF4 looked like garbage in alpha (graphical sliders did nothing at one point) but prettied up nicely at launch.

Also, isn't that an old version compared to what the devs are actually working on. I could be completely off on everything but just saying.

Man, I remember playing Rainbow Six on a crappy Compaq computer... Surviving for hours, trying to spot enemies between actual pixels - failing to recognize an eye in the jungle leaves and die sniped the following second. Clapped slowly.

I've played about 15 hours of alpha and I thought is was pretty good, I mean sure it needs to be polished a bit but for being in that state it was fun and seemed balanced. I do miss the older R6 games that took time to sort out a stratagy and then execute and hope it all goes smooth or even the R6:Vegas games were alot of fun, loved grappling then flipping upside down with a Desert Eagle in hand and dropping baddies left and right, oh well. At least they've moddified those games through Steam to make them playable on Win7. :)

You should try Project Reality (a mod for Battlefield 2), and quite likely you're a perfect match for Squad which is still being developed. Check out the numerous vids on Bluedrake42's youtube channel. I barely bother with cable TV now, just have his PR vids playing instead, though he covers numerous other games, and have a look at his recent Squad updates too.

Oh, I think you'l like his coverage of Tactical Battlefield aswell, though as a viewing experience I still prefer the PR uploads atm.

All the above are tactical based on what you said and for numerous other reasons (that's their main focus), ie. one can't just recover from injury without help; medics are vital to the gameplay, though the games vary in how the functionality operates, eg. in T.B. one can move an injured soldier away from the combat area so they can be treated elsewhere (can't do that in PR I think, though it's an older engine now).

Much as I like games like Crysis, I think if I had oodles of spare time I'd be playing PR or T.B. instead, and certainly eagerly anticipating Squad. Check bluedrake42.com, realitymod.com and other sites for more info. If you like playing tactical squad-based large pvp games, there are plenty of great options available atm that are less well known but better than the big names IMO. I think you'd particularly like PR as a starting point.

Ian.
