RAM 2x8gb vs 4x4gb kits

I saw this video and the difference is literally STAGGERING. The low 0.1% and 1% blow me away the most. Is there any other evidence to back up this claim that 4x4 can yield this much better results than 2x8?

It would depend on the CPU. Generally two DIMMs paired with a two channel memory controller CPU will have a higher stable RAM clock speed. The additional two DIMMs will usually limit the max RAM clock speed. I would always recommend matching the number of DIMMs to the number of memory channels on the CPU.
