RAM and Motherboard incompatible?

Ok- so I'm planning on building a beast 4K build (going to save up for about a year and do work for my parents), starting with getting a HTC vive then continueing to save until I can sell my current PC and buy one with a GTX 980ti, i7 4GHz skylake- just complete overkill.

But, basically my problem is I entered my rig into pcpartpicker and aparently the ram is incompatible with the motherboard, which I've never heard of happening.

Here's what it said:
"Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory is 240-pin DIMM form factor, but the Asus MAXIMUS VIII GENE Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard only accepts 288-pin DIMM form factor RAM."

This error is strange because as I understand it- both are fairly recent and high end parts, and I've never heard of RAM being incompatible.

Do I need to get another type of ram? If so, any suggestions? I want to have 32GBs and it needs to match my black and red colour scheme (grey/metalic will also fit in) since this ram was mainly chosen since RAM is RAM, as long as it works (plus reviews were really good) and it also looked good.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok, thanks. Hopefully I can get MSY to order some in red, cause the corsair DDR4 RAM they have is actually cheaper, but not in red. Guess we'll have to see- either way, it'll work. Thanks.
