I need to add additional memory for my first computer build last year. I am about as sophisticated as a box of rocks when it comes to computer hardware.

Current system:
Ryzen 3700X
TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI)
Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18

I need to upgrade to 32 GB. Would the best option be?
  1. Get 2 more sticks of the current memory and use 4 memory slots
  2. Get 2 sticks of 16GB and use 2 Memory slots
  3. Get 1 Stick of 32GB and use 1 memory slot.
  4. Get 2 sticks of 16GB combined with the current 2 Sticks of 8GB using 4 slots (this is asking for problems?)
  5. Some other option?
Is Option 4 just asking for problems ? I don't want problems :)

Lets ignore price and focus on performance. Thanks.

No offence but if you showed yourself to a geologist, a box of rocks is a a very sophisticated bunch to them! Not kidding!

Jokes aside, you follow option 1. If you can't find the exact kit of ram, move to option 2. Before you go for the ram upgrade, make sure your motherboard is on the latest BIOS update.
