Hello, I have recently bought an Asus Maximus X Hero board, and an i7 8700k, I bought DDR4 Trident Z RGB 3000 mhz 16 GB when I look at the bios of the motherboard, it tells me the ram is running at 2133 mhz, how do I get the clock speed of the ram to run at 3000 mhz?

No probs, if it doesn't work, post back. Some DIMMS even with XMP set, or manual can still have issues, specially if there are 4 DIMM slots populated. Is it 4 x 4gb or 2 x 8gb for the 16gb total?

You should be okay though.

BTW, stonking system. Will eat anything you throw at it. What GPU have you got in there?

Its 2x8 gb sticks, I want to get another set and have a 4x8 gb set, I have a gtx 1060 in it rn, I made it for the intention of game design, 3d design, compiling, things like that, along with gaming

Okay, just keep in mind that some mobo's have issues with 4 dimms. You may have to set the SOC voltage a notch to get 4 working together. And of course you have to consider getting a second matched set with the same profiles. Even still adding in the extra 16gb down the line may cause problems. Just something to consider.

It's a nice powerful build. If you are gaming at 1080p 60hz the 1060 will max nearly everything out there, and with the 8700k you will get max performance from any GPU.

Enjoy :)
