RAM confusion - want FASTEST RAM Possible for my Motherboard

I want to upgrade to the FASTEST possible RAM. Where do i find the RAM I seek?

1600 is the fastest ram modules supported which is the first page if you google the model number!!!! Now if you go to Dells website and check the specs page it will tell you which ram vendors they recommend 😉

RAM is also depending on the CPU. Your motherboard will suport up to 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, the best RAM manufacturers are G.skill/Corsair/Kingston.

You will find a QVL on the site somewhere might mean looking for it though.

Depending on how much does your CPU support. If your CPU doesn't support 1866mhz RAM, it probably wont work stable or at all.

Depending on how much does your CPU support. If your CPU doesn't support 1866mhz RAM, it probably wont work stable or at all.

Intel's CPU RAM support on their website is only relative to the technical base value of RAM. The memory controller can be overclocked on Intel CPUs for higher frequency memory. "K" CPUs are even better at this.

Keep in mind this is a prebuilt, with (more than likely) a locked BIOS. Getting 1866 may well 'work' but based on it's SPD it may only boot, run and 'work' at 1333

What about running Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2K8G3D169DS3 in my Dell XPS 8700?

I'd gues better chance of it running at 1600 than the 1866 sticks
