is there a big difference between ddr2 and ddr3 ram because i have 4gb ram ddr2 can i play games who want 4gb ram ddr3 ?

YES, and if you want a DDR3 ram, that means you have to change your build from DDR2 to DDR3 capable. So if budget is a problem, stay with your current setup with DDR2. I think you can still play that game but expect a lower performance than using a DDR3 recommended build. We can suggest better if you add more details on your question like, what's your cpu and gpu? what games are you going to play, what's your budget?

The DDR2 and DDR3 RAM circuit boards are physically different. They are not interchangeable because the motherboard sockets are different.
