Hello everyone I'm having issues with the detection of my memory sticks by the BIOS (and therefore windows itself) and hope you can help.
The issue is as follows, I have these two different types of sticks (1 & 2) and would like to use 2 sticks of each which should give 12GB however the bios only detects part of it.
Here's some hopefully useful info :
-OS : Windows 10 Preview 64bit (issue also happened on 8 and 8.1)
-MOBO is ASUSP8P67 Pro Rev 3.1 (the bios is up to date)
-Issue still happens wether memory remap is enabled or not.
-I have not made any modifications to either voltage or timing
I'll describe some layouts that I tried and the results they gave :
Layout 1 : 2GB in A1 + 4GB in A2 : BIOS detects 4GB
Layout 2 : 2GB in A1 + 4BG in B1 : BIOS detects 6GB
Layout 3 : 4GB in A1 + 4GB in B1 : BIOS detects 8GB
Layout 4 : 2GB in A1 + 2GB in A2 + 4GB in B1 + 4GB in B2 : BIOS detects 6GB
Layout 5 : 4GB in A1 + 2GB in A2 + 4GB in B1 + 2GB in B2 : BIOS detects 8GB
No matter the layout CPU-Z will always show the correct amount and the SPD tool inside the
BIOS will also recognize every stick without any issue.
From what I can gather the problem does not seem to come from the compatibility of the sticks between themselves else Layout 2 wouldn't work, it seems like the bios only accepts one stick on each channel.
If you need any more info just ask !
Thanks in advance !
