I was looking at the MSI Neo 2. I have seen specs that people have DDR500 with this board. The specs state that it only can have upto DDR400, is that a typo or can this board handle or take ram higher that DDR400??

DDR500 is the same thing as DDR400 as far as the board is concerned. Can you drive a porche down the highway at 60MPH? Same deal with RAM, the higher speed stuff works at lower speeds.

DDR500 (PC4000) isn't a JEDEC specified part, so no companies list it on their motherboard compatability.

So DDR500 is the same thing as DDR400, except that it has a higher max speed. Motherboards treat it as DDR400, and it runs at DDR400 speed until you overclock.

It's like having that Porche running 60MPH on the highway, you're holding all that extra speed capability in reserve until you find a chance to open up the throttle.
