I am planning to order a new pc with ASUS ROG Strix x570-F motherboard and a new Ryzen 5900x cpu. I understand most components of a PC but RAM is still a mystery to me. I know I want 32gb and I want something quick but RAM timings and compatibility are beyond me.

Would 4 sticks of 4400mhz Patriot Viper Steel 8gb RAM (PVS416G440C9K) work with the X570-F. I have read conflicting things on this. If not can anyone recommend something?

Thanks!

Thank you! It doesn’t seem that Patriot do 16gb sticks at great speed which left me stuck with 4 x 8gb. Do you have any suggestions? I’m unlikely to spend ages over clocking RAM so I’m really after something I can drop in that will run quick straight off the bat. Cheers.
Usually 4400mhz is way too much and you wouldn't need that kind of RAM for general use and gaming. I go for G.Skill Trident Z and Corsair Dominator for high end RAM. If you want something cheaper, I use Ripjaws V myself and they have 16GB sticks for that and Corsair Vengeance as well

Ram main conflicts are against cpu, for a AMD a 3200 or 3600 (best) now a 3600 CL16 is worst than a 3600 CL15 the less the CL number is the better so for ram the rule goes like this: more gb per stick good, after that more mhz (2600, 3200, 3600, 4000) better, after that CL (15, 16, 18) the smaller the number the better. Compatible Ram brands that work well with AMD: Corsair and G Skills. Ram 3200 was very good for zen 3 maybe 3600 would be on point for zen 4 or maybe 4000 noone knows until it comes out

Yeah this is true. I was on a budget, so I went for Ripjaws V 3000Mhz CL16 for r5 3600 and B550 Aorus pro ac
