[SOLVED] RAM frequency cannot be changed in BIOS.

I have had my Lenovo Legion Y520T for 3 years now, and I have recently upgraded my RAM from 8GB to 12GB. The speed on the original 8GB stick was 2400mhz, and I have bought a similar 4GB ddr4 2400mhz stick (HyperX Fury). I installed the stick to see that the memory is fine, however, the frequency has decreased to 2133mhz. I have tried to update the bios, but I cannot find anything to change the DRAM frequency? can you please help me with this? I also tried updating the bios but there would be no new options to allow DRAM frequency changes.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

On one level, do not worry.
Intel does not depend on fast ram for performance.
Your update made 8gb of your capacity run in faster dual channel mode.
Overall, a benefit.

The speed reduction likely was done to get the ram to run at all.
A motherboard must manage all the ram using the same specs of voltage, cas and speed.
The internal workings are designed for the capacity of the kit.
Ram from the same vendor and part number can be made up of differing manufacturing components over time.
Some motherboards, can be very sensitive to this.
This is more difficult when more sticks are involved.

Your best upgrade would have been a 2 x 8gb kit of perhaps 2666 speed.
Verify that what you have is ok.

Run memtest86.
It boots from a usb...

Run memtest86.
It boots from a usb stick and does not use windows.
You can download the free edition here:
https://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

If you can run a full pass with NO errors, your ram should be ok.
