RAM Gaming requirements

I have a gaming pc with 4gb RAM and I am very much excited for the release of fallout 4 but I was disappointed when I learned that according to steam the game has a RAM requirement of 8GB RAM. So my question to you is that is fallout 4 at least playable in my PC?

You will probably be able to load it up, but the gameplay will be so choppy in places it won't be an enjoyable experience. You'll need to get more RAM to be able to play the game smoothly.

"glamdringfh" is right. I don't know if it's because RAM has gotten cheaper or because game's are just poorly optimized on PC's nowadays, but more and more games require A LOT of RAM to run.
The new Black Ops 3 is apparently not satisfied unless you have 12GB of RAM!!
