Question RAM is not running at the advertised XMP timings/speed ?

Hi all,

Today my new RAM arrived and upon installing, the PC simply lights up for 3-5 seconds, before everything switches off again and then the cycle just continuously repeats. When I put my old RAM in - as I have now - the PC is back to working just fine.

My current RAM is HyperX Fury RGB DDR4 3733mt/s 2 x 8GB and the new RAM I'm trying to install is Kingston Fury Beast RGB DDR4 3733mt/s 2 x 16GB. My PC is a HP Omen using the Intel Z690 chipset with their BlizzardOC 8917 board, and I'm on the latest BIOS. I can't see any reason why the new RAM wouldn't be compatible or cause a problem. It's essentially a like for like swap, just more memory.

I've tried both new stick in slots 2 and 4 together, both in slot 2 separately and both in slot 4 separately, and it's the exact same issue every time.

EDIT:

Apologies, this specific issue is now resolved. It was overclocking being enabled in Omen Gaming Hub causing the issue. Once I switched that off, it worked and the PC boots as it should.

That said, I do have another related issue I've now noticed. Please see this post:

If you've verified that the BIOS was flashed to the latest version, did you clear the CMOS?

As for this;
My PC is a HP Omen using the Intel Z690 chipset with their BlizzardOC 8917 board
You should either pass on a link to the prebuilt or the SKU to the prebuilt, HP have a number of prebuilt under their Omen portfolio.

Just for the sake of clarity, can you pass on a link to the new ram kit and images of the rams that were on your prebuilt out of the box? You can host your images on a site like Imgur or their ilk.

I can't see any reason why the new RAM wouldn't be compatible or cause a problem. It's essentially a like for like swap, just more memory.
I take it with this sentence that you're not mixing and matching your rams...? If so, good!

disable XMP and after put new sticks

When selecting the 3733mt/s XMP profile #1 in the BIOS settings, the timings are shown as 20-24-24, when this RAM is sold as CL19 and supposed to run as 19-23-23, which is also stated on the packaging it comes in. Does anyone know why this might be? CPU-Z confirms these timings of 20-24-24, whilst also showing as running at 1862.1 MHz rather than the full 1865 Mhz.

This is the RAM, and the document states that XMP Profile #1 - which is what I'm using - should be 3733mt/s and 19-23-23:

This is my pre-built PC:

EDIT:

XMP Profile #2 is also different to advertised when selecting in the BIOS. It should be 3600MT/s and 17-21-21 and the XMP Profile #2 is showing as 3467MT/s and 18-21-21.

download occt and run the ram only for errors , if something doesn't let them go up, it's the mb
fine I can see it 1866x2=3732

https://www.ocbase.com/download

Ran this for about 15 minutes before I had to leave for work and it didn't seem to find any errors to that point.

What I find strange is that the XMP profiles themselves are incorrect. Surely if it was a motherboard issue it would just crash/show error etc. not cause the XMP profiles in the BIOS to show different to what they're factory set to?

If you have aida64 or you can find it run Cache & Memory Benchmark and upload the image of this

You're looking at wrong specs sheet.

You have:
(BTW - this is a single module - purchased separately, not 2x16GB module kit - tested for working together)
KF3733C19D4/16GX

Specs sheet:
KF437C19BB12AK2/32

Now, that's interesting, because this is what I ordered:

Clearly states KF437C19BB12AK2/32...

When you received your order,
were both modules in single sealed package?
Or were they in separate packages?

Yes it does, but the speeds/timings of the XMP profiles in the BIOS are different to what they are in this picture and what they should be.

The XMP profiles in the BIOS show as:

Profile #1: 3733MT/s, 20-24-24
Profile #2: 3467MT/s, 18-21-21
I don't think there is anything wrong with the 2 you wrote.
They have to do with the motherboard, from here on, whatever you want to put in, go to manual timing

If you have these KF437C19BB12AK2/32 , profile 19 is definitely missing from the bios as I said because of the mb

So the motherboard is potentially automatically changing the stock XMP profiles in the BIOS and slowing them down?

in the bios you don't choose automatic but you select the profile XMP when exit the bios you have to choose to save the changes before exit, if you forget it it's not going to keep it, in any other case your motherboard is at fault
