I used to have good, low, ram-storage usage (around 3gb), but recently a malware virus got onto my computer, I was able to get rid of it using free anti-virus/malware protectors like "AVG", "Avast", and "Malwarebytes". I scanned my computer once with these programs and it was removed. But now everything is running slower, my google chrome loads slower, my computer programs take longer to load, a lot of my games crash when I first try to open them (CS:GO, ARMA 3, etc (all through Valve Steam)). But ever since then, my RAM usage has been constantly 50%, on boot-up, and then while playing games or using multiple programs, it jumps up to around 7gb, out of my 8gb total. Please help, I don't know what I did wrong, if you have any ideas you would consider me trying, give me a shout or a recommendation or something!! Thank you!!

Run CCleaner to get rid of the extra temp files and other internet gunk.

I would also add CleanMem to free up the memory from these programs that use it, and then don't give back the RAM when no longer used.

If using Chrome browser, switch back to Firefox as Chrome has had RAM leak issues.

The best solution may be to reinstall the OS from scratch to totally get rid of it.

I have a custom built PC, I cannot reinstall Windows 7 because I manually installed it and don't have my install disk/boot key. I have the same problem with Firefox as I do Chrome, and Opera just doesn't operate well... I am going to install Cleanmem to see if that helps. Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it! I will let you know how it goes :)

I tried downloading Cleanmem and Chrome completely blocked it, it said it was full of malicious crap... So I dont know if it was the website I was downloading from? Can you send me a link? Thanks!
