[SOLVED] RAM ISSUES

so recently my pc had been blue screening so I did a factory reset to check if it was software. awhile after that, I blue screened again. after checking the system information page, I noticed my 2 8gb sticks of ram were being registered as 2 4gb sticks of ram. after removing one the blue screens stopped but my pc still registers the ram as 4gb.
MY PC INFORMATION:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Motherboard Z97 GAMING 5 (MS-7917)
Ram corsiar memory vengeance black 8gb ddr3 1600MHz

Off the top of my head, sounds like the motherboard is starting to fail. Very unlikely to be a CPU or memory issue unless there has been something happen to cause electrical damage to one of them.

I have a second pc with lower specs would you recommend I swap over to using that one until I can get a new motherboard for this one?

personally I would first test with another set of Rams to rule out/or confirm defects in these or test the ram in another setup

i have just done that and the ram is working fine in my other motherboard so it was the motherboard i guess
