HX426C16FB2K2/16 - this is a Kingston RAM model number. I was told that "/16" in the end denotes 16gb i.e 2x8gb kit, so total 16gb !
Does it mean this model comes with one 8gb stick and maximum support of 16gb?

Solution

Yes, you can have a kit that's just a single 16 GB stick. You're right, that link would seem to indicate that a "2" before the "/" does not necessarily mean that there are two modules in the kit, but I can't find a data sheet, or even any mention, of the RAM kit in that link on Kington's website...
No, it means that kit comes with a total of 16GB of memory (2x8 GB).

Looking at a couple other kingston kits, it looks like they denote the number of DIMMs in the package with the last number before the '/', and the total capacity with the number just after the '/'.

I don't think 2/16 denotes 2x8gb=16gb.
Have look at this

"/16" can also be a whole single channel? Which contradicts all the answers here! I thought "/16" means that particular model comes with two 8gb sticks!

Nice catch, but actually letter 'K' denotes 'kit' in those codes. So FB2/16 is model FB2, one stick, total capacity 16 Gb, while FBK2/16 means model FB, kit of two sticks, total capacity 16 Gb.
