Ram not recognised when properly installed, but detects when I put them differently.

Hello there,

Recently I had a few problems, RAM was not detected. It is supposed to detect 2x 2gb, but it only detects 2 gb. The motherboards is the MSI pro-x 58e, and I installed the two modules in DIMM_A0 & B0 (so in the 2nd and the 4th) WIndows and cpu ID does not detect the ram, allthough my bios does detect it.

When I install the two modules in DIMM_A0 & C0, windows does detect it, and it works fine. My question is, when installed DIMM_A0 & C0, is there any performance decrease?

It was a while back since I booted up this computer. The ram used to work fine with DIMM_A0 & B0, but when I changed the case, and reinstalled everything it does not work anymore.

I am running windows 7 64-bit btw

Thanks

"supposed to detect 2x 2gb, but it only detects 4 gb" sounds correct 2+2=4.......If bot reading in the B0 slot might have dust or the like in it
In my experoence, the motherboard manuals can be wrong. I had the same problem, and I installed extra ram in the wrong slots, and everything works well. Most likely no performance decrease.

Yes, that might be the case. But strangely enough it did work before how its described in the manual.

Haha typo, my bad. Yes I cleaned out the dust.
