[SOLVED] RAM Overclocking past 3134 Mhz

New to overclocking so sorry if this is a silly question. I have been trying to get past 3133 Mhz on my ram for a few days now and every time I try to jump to 3200 Mhz it fails (My goal is 3600 if possible). My BIOS is updated to the most recent firmware. Is there something I'm missing? any advice would be appreciated!

RAM: VENGEANCE® LPX 64GB (2 x 32GB) DDR4 DRAM 3600MHz C18 Memory Kit - Black

I just bought a 2x16gb kit of the same exact specs (3600mhz/c18) and it doesn't even get past 2800mhz.

Not sure what is up with these garbage kits but they do not seem right. I'm surprised someone else was having this issue too. It's rated to 3600, how can it not just XMP that? I assumed my motherboard was having problems in general but I have a feeling some bad RAM kits got shipped. I was able to OC to 3900 in some cases with some very loose timings in the past. I presume it is a mix of my motherboard not being able to handle something as of late and the memory being bad- but my old memory won't go above that either.. idk I have a feeling it's a mix...
are you also increasing voltage?

overclocking memory can be a tricky process.
usually just upping the speed will not work without also altering timings and/or voltage.

you should spend some time researching the process before attempting.

if you don't have an available XMP, or AMD equivalent, profile to auto-load manufacturer rated specs then there's a good chance this RAM kit is not officially supported by this motherboard.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I upped the voltage to 1.368v and the timings to 18-22-22-42 everything I've read said that I shouldn't go past 1.4v. I guess I just don't know how to tell when I'm getting to danger town with increasing voltage. How do you know when you've gone too high with voltage?

Update: I went to 1.398v and tried 3200 and it was still unsuccessful. 🙁

I have SEVERAL kits of memory so I was very certain it was the motherboard, but when a kit is rated 3600, it should be able to go to 3600, or at least 3200, with loose timings, even off the QVL list.

1.5v is the 'safe' limit, but 1.4v is max for beginners. You can also go higher than 1.5v technically but that is for a power user that would not be asking this question (respectfully).

18-22-22-42 are not loose timings if you are having those issues, though, try something much higher, 20+ CAS.

I forget what it's called but ryzen (well, AMD) boards have an equivalent version to XMP. I think it's called DOCP. I never rly used an amd board so I'm not sure.

this is definitely not true.
there are many reasons why a specific RAM module may not be completely compatible with certain motherboards.
that is the whole point behind the manufacturer QVL, so you will know what will and what may not work perfectly.
