ram problem on asus

Hey, i have an P5G41T-M LX2/GB motherboard. I have KVR1333D3N9/2G memory installed. I just got a kvr13n9s6/2 and the mob doesn't recognise the new ram. Any ideas ?

Try the old RAM in different slots to find out if you have a broken slot. If the slots are all working, try the new RAM on its own. If the new RAM works on its own and all of the slots work, the modules are incompatible with each other.

I tried changing slots and nothing happened, also the new ram doesn't work on it's own. The new ram has the same spec with the old, and it completes the mob's conditions. :O

Then the new RAM is probably faulty and you'll have to return it. There's also a very, very small chance that the RAM is not compatible with your board so test it in some other PC before returning it.

Well if the RAM works in the other PC, but not in yours, there's pretty much nothing you can do other than return it and get something else, preferably a 2x4GB kit. Also, could you take the RAM from the other PC, put it into your PC and then put your RAM to the other PC? This might work if your other PC has either a single or dual 4GB stick(s).

mine, with the two rams attached .. i don't have other pc, i tried the ram to a friend's pc ..

According to that your PC recognizes all 4GB, but it's not in dual channel and only 2GB is usable...

I would advise you to return the RAM and get a completely new kit, hence minimizing the possibility of incompatibilities.

Well you can try to reset your CMOS and update your BIOS.

i have the latest bios update, and i tried the reset .. nothing yet ..

In that case there's not much to be done; Sometimes incompatibilities happen.
