okay guys i have a question, i want to upgrade my ram on my laptop currectly i have 8G and i want to add 8G that i will have 16G. ram in my laptop is 1200mhz so is there a problem if i add in 1600 mhz or more .

I think that's actually 2400mhz. DDR stands for "Double Data Rate", so you have to multiply by 2 to get the actual speed.

What model is your laptop? The manufacturer should state for each model maximum capacity and/or frequency. A rule of thumb is to match capacity, frequency and voltage to the existing stick(s), although there's no guarantee they'll work flawlessly.

Without knowing the specific model of laptop, it's impossible to say.

However, generally speaking you can add higher speeds, but you'll only be able to run at the lowest common denominator (ie the lower speed/timings).

Mixing & matching can be problematic though, so it would be recommended to replace your existing soDIMMs with a 'kit' of the appropriate speed/capacity you're looking for to avoid potential issues that are difficult to diagnose.
