hi
i just upgraded my ram and cpu at the same time. when i first booted it restated once before it got to windows but been running for about an 1hr now without any issue.

the problem is i had 8gb of ram 4x2 brand was hynix pc3 12800u and it ran at 1600 mhz.
i upgraded to 16gb g.skil trident 1600 mhz but its only running at 1333 mhz.

my bios doesnt have any adjustable settings for ram it just says how much i have and at what speed it is.

pc is a dell inspiron 660

any way to fix this?

Solution
I'm guessing here, you might contact Dell, but the 2x8GB Trident X are CL7 and I have strong doubts that a prebuilt's BIOS will be written to run the the 1600/7 sticks. Prob drop them to 1333/9 or maybe even 1333/10, at stock the BIOS might run 1600/11 or 10

that must be it cause my last sticks were 1600 cas 11 and worked . would you switch them back to stock for gaming. any difference in 1333 cas 9 vs 1600 cas 11?
thank you
