what will happen if i install ddr4 3600 on a motherboard that only takes up to ddr4 3400mhz?? the motherboard is a b450 tomahawk, cpu is a ryzen 5 3600.

Assuming this is like a B450 board, you can use the ram, but you may not be able to get the ram to rated speed with a Ryzen CPU and motherboard.

AFAIK if the ram is compatible and works, itll just work at whatever the mobo can actually handle, reguardless if the ram is better than that or not.

The RAM should work fine it will just be automatically limited to the 3400 MHz of the motherboard. There won't be any effect on performance in either a positive or negative way compared to 3400MHz RAM sticks.
