hi right now i have a msi b250 pc mate. i have 4x4gb of ram at 2400hz witch is what my motherboard caps at now is it more worth to get a new motherboard and get 16gb ram at like 3200hz or just get 32gb ram at like 2666hz and just clock it down. (btw yes my pc is fine but i like to upgrade alot lol)

if running Intel, just stay where you are.
Reuse your RAM in a new motherboard/CPU upgrade if staying with Intel.

Unless you are using programs that rely heavily on RAM speeds or capacity to do their job efficiently, then don't worry about RAM speed with Intel.

If upgrading to Ryzen, then get faster. Faster is better.
Size is a matter of preference or need at that point and cannot recommend sizes without knowing the use cases.

I personally don't do anything crazy with stuff that needs RAM speed.
I just game and do normal productivity stuff.

I have Intel 6700K with 4x4GB 2666MHz.
Previously had 2x8GB 2400MHz with no issue (other than the fact that the motherboard went bad and took the RAM with it LOL, so I had to get a new board and RAM and the 2666MHz was what was available second hand for a good price)

so you think i should just leave it how it is? if so do you still no if the motherboard runs better with 2 sticks or 4?
