Processor: Intel Core i7-2600 Processor
Motherboard: h67ma-usb3-b3
Im looking to upgrade my 8GBof RAM to 16GB, what would be best?

Awesome thankyou, I'm thinking rather than sinking more money into this motherboard, maybe now is a good time to upgrade mobo and processor too?

or for the extra $1500 it might cost after I got a 8700k, mobo, ram and a new tower to fit it all, (some new fans to be safe, most of this set up is obviously quite old) it wouldn't be worth the small performance increase?
I have a gigabyte 8GB GTX 1070 so processor is the bottle neck for my gaming needs

True, and I'm guessing it's one of those situations where you might as well do all three parts (mobo, processor and RAM) all at once. Thanks very much for your help :)

Right, gotcha. I'll save up and treat myself, unless it's worth waiting for next generation Processors?

8700K will be at the top for a while with Intel's policy of giving more power little by little. Some large performance step is not anticipated for a while. Only saving grace is that 9th gen will be compatible with present chipsets (with BIOS upgrade).
Other option is AMD and it's Zen of course, 2700x is there neck to neck with 8700 with new ones coming pretty soon and before Intel. Zen2 is coming with 7nM soon while Intel is in trouble with 10nM.
