Hello,

I would like to ask if anyone have an optimal timing to set for my ram with the specs that I have.
Reason i want to do this is due to having stuttering during games and i heard this method helps to fix it.

My Specs:
CPU:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600x 3.8Ghz
Motherboard: GIGABYTE Aorus X570 Pro Wifi
GPU: MSI RTX2070 Super Gaming X Trio
RAM: G.Skill Sniper X 3600Mhz 16Gb (2x 8Gb) (Fitted on slot 2 and 4)
(F4-3600C19D-16GSXWB) CL19-20-20-40 (Manufactured by SK Hynix)
PSU: ThermalTake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W 80+ Gold

XMP activated

Also, a guide to do timing would be appreciated as i have never done it before.

Thank you very much!

Thanks for the replies, I am using the latest chipset as of 19th august.

Storage:
  1. Samsung SSD 970 Evo 500GB (New)(Games and operating system)
  2. Samsung SSD 850 Pro 512GB (Old) (Storage/Plan for future usage)
  3. WD4005FZBX-00K5WB0 4TB (New) (storage)
  4. WD1002FAEX-00Y9A0 1TB (Old) (storage)
Operating System: Windows 10 64bit Pro
Bios Version: F4j
Chipset: 1.8.19.0915

Which games and when it stutters, what's it look like and where does it happen?

Are you monitoring temps for throttling?

What monitor/resolution/Hz are you playing on?

Are you using Geforce Experience to optimise games?

How about Windows power plans, are you using Ryzen balanced? Perhaps try Windows balanced and set minimum cpu state to 10%

My operating system and game storage is in a NVME M.2 (970 Evo). The rest are SATA.

I am currently having issues with all the games regarding weird stuttering (e.g. Battlefield 5, Rainbow Six siege, Apex, Control, Wolfenstine)
The weird stuttering or sudden lag/ drop in frames or weird graphic static happens randomly.

My CPU and GPU temps are not very high, i am using NH-D15 for CPU heatsink
CPU idle: 38 to 45C , load: 50 to 65 C
GPU idle: 40C, load: 55 to 60C

I am using a local monitor brand, PRISM+ which gives 2560:1440 Resolution and 144Hz
For Apex/R6 Siege, i try to reduce graphic settings to reach 130+ Hz all in 1440p.

I don't use Geforce Experience to optimise my games, (Unless they automatically did it without me knowing).

Currently using Ryzen High performance Power Plan

Have you scanned your system for malware/viruses lately? Do you have any processes running in Task Manager that are using high CPU cycles or memory (that shouldn't be)?

Is there any recommended way to check?
From task manager, CPU at 3% with chrome and backgrounds, Memory at 31%

I agree with boju and COLGeek, the problem is most likely Not caused by your RAM timings.
Once you get the problem figured out and if you still want to try and tighten up your RAM timing I suggest you read the info about how to use Thaiphoon Burner and the DRAM Calculator posted here:

Download and install Malwarebytes (the free home version is fine). Also, what anti-virus app are you running?

I will try and run the anti malware, currently i am only using windows antivirus (defender).
If there is no malware affecting my computer, is there any other possible solutions?

Thanks i will read up on that!
