Ram Upgrade Problems

I recently decided that I was tired of my sluggish computer and bought some new ram. I didn't notice at the time but the timing and voltage was different than my installed ram. Here is what I'm working with:

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+
MOBO: Asus M2R32-MVP
Installed Ram Slot 1 and 3: Corsair XMS2 DHX 2 GB : 2 x 1 GB Memory - DIMM 240-pin - 800 MHz ( PC2-6400 ) CL4 Unbuffered - With Heat Spreader 2.1V

The new ram I purchased is: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) CL5 1.8V

Everything is the same, heat sink and everything, except the CL. I tried all the combinations of old/new ram and it doesn't seem like anything works. The computer will power on but no beeps and no video. No ram will yield beeps and old ram will run just fine. The new ram will not boot or beep.

It seems that my original ram is not sold anywhere anymore, so I was wondering if the new ram is indeed defective, is there any other ram I could get? I'd prefer to only get 2 more sticks of 1gb because of money issues.

Run the new ram by itself and use memtest, a free download. If it runs without errors, sell your old ram on craigslist and buy another pair of the new stuff. If the new ram has too many errors, rma it to corsair and do what I recommended when you get the replacement ram.

Will I be able to run memtest if I don't get any video on the new ram? I don't get any beeps or POST or anything.

No. Use the old ram to set the ram voltage to 1.8 and try the new ram again. Try each new ram stick one at a time in dimm slot one. Maybe one has failed completely.
