Hi guys,
I am reaching out with a very weird issue I am having with my computer. It sometimes beeps 5 times on startup. From my research, it should be a CPU fault, and I could just try to replace my CPU, but I want to try all different things before I make any purchases. More about the issue:
- It occurs very randomly. Sometimes when turning on the PC, sometimes during a restart. It never showed any pattern whatsoever.
- It has been happening for a few years now, but lately it has started to become more frequent.
- After the error occurs, it seemingly restarts itself, but it never POSTs, and it just runs with a black screen.
- Once the PC boots, everything works as it should. No limited performance, no crashes.
- I am running the latest version of BIOS, and the issues never changed during multiple updates over the years.
- I tried taking out the CPU, RAM, and GPU, reconnecting everything, so I am sure there are no loose connections. The RAMs are in the correct place (as per the MBU install guide).
- I tried turning on/off the secure boot and fast boot options in BIOS.
- Tried disconnecting all the I/O, different power cables, and different outlets.
- One maybe even more strange thing is that about 2 months ago it started doing it basically on every start-up and needed a restart to get going. But once I disconnected everything and tried it in a different environment, it improved drastically. I then tried it back at the old location, and it still worked great with about one hiccup every 2-3 weeks and stayed the same since.
My specs:
CPU - Ryzen 5 3600
MBU - AsRock B450 Pro4
RAM - Crucial Ballistix 16gb ddr4 3000mhz
GPU - RX 560
OS - win 11
If anybody has any ideas on what I might try please let me know. I am very open to replacing some parts, but I would like a second opinion so I don't buy something I don't need.
Thanks
Dominik
