So over the past couple of days (since running a windows 10 update) a random command prompt window keeps opening a few times an hour. it tabs me out of games and i have no idea why it is happening.

i managed to catch a picture of the command prompt, and any help regarding what it is or how to stop this from happening would be greatly appreciated

In truth, it could be any of those, but the most suspect, in my opinion, would be "Starter Module (2)". Unless you know exactly what this is, I'd probably disable it from startup and see if you continue to have these command prompt issues.

As for "Heroes and Capes" there is my namesake...

As I said, something on your system appears to be trying to install something. If the command prompt comes up randomly, then it appears there is a process running on your system that probably should not be.

I'd recommend opening up Task Manager to see if you can find that rogue process/service or if something is running on Startup that maybe should not be. If you're not sure what something is, you can always look it up online.

If that doesn't resolve anything, I'd next start a search for all batch files (*.bat) and find one (or more) that include the "FINDSTR" command, because it's looking for a certain string in those various files.

I have included a picture of my startup processes, could it be my antivirus? i recently upgraded my Avast membership and as a result had to do a fresh install

i could not find any rogue processes/services in my task manager. i will also try searching for *.bat files as you mentioned

thanks for your help, not all heroes wear capes :D
