Question Random Crashing While Alt-Tabbing

I recently just bought a ryzen 3600, new ram and a new motherboard. It was all working fine until I bought a 1400 165hz monitor. When certain games are booted up, alt-tabbing turns the whole screen black for a few seconds before showing the next window. No big deal, just a minor inconvenience really. But recently about every 10 alt-tabs with black screens, my computer freezes, and I'm unable to switch to my second monitor, press the restart, or the power button. I end up having to hold the power button to restart my system which is not ideal. I've been googling it for a few days but I haven't been able to find anything online to help. Any suggestions?

possibly, but my system should be able to handle 165. i also cap all my games to 165 but ill try lowering the cap and see if that does anything
