Random devices peeking in network but don't connect

I've recently noticed that when I check my network from the computer I can sometimes spot phones or tablets that's visible for maybe a minute or less. They don't appear in my routers clientlist so I don't think they've ever connected.

Is this normal behavior, example are these wireless devices only automagically trying to connect to networks around them or is someone attempting to hack my network?

I'm not sure if I should take precautions like changing password (even if they havn't successfully connected yet) or is it normal wireless behavior and I shouldn't mind it?

I did not read this closely the first time and thought you meant you could see random device in your router logs.

If you are actually seeing devices in your pc that means they are actually on your network. Since your pc is connected to your router the only way you can see other devices is if they first connect to the router. Now if you mean you saw this in a log on the router then it likely is not a issue.
It is normal because more devices are set to look for Wi-Fi networks by default. It could be issue if you have fail log in attempts in the logs then some one is trying to hack you network. Also if you have IP(s) that are/was connected, but are not familiar you could be hacked already. Depend of your router you could disable the ping option to your router or hide your SSID.
