So, i happened to be playing CS:GO and then my monitor randomly just turns all grey then a few vertical lines and then black, then after like 10~ seconds,it comes back for 1 seconds and then goes on repeating.
My pc specs are as following:
Processor:A8-5600k
Monitor:Aoc e970sw
ram: 4x1 gb ddr3
graphics card:R9 270x
PSU:CM thunderstorm 350W
mobo:Asrock fm2a55m-vg3

The entire build was purchased on 2014 and i used DVI cable to hook it to the monitor .
Possible fix for this, this problem arose today itself and has been constantly bugging. Any help would be great.

Solution
I've had a similar problem when i tried to run Doom at 4k resolution with my GTX760 2GB GPU -> the thing is, my GPU didn't have enough VRAM to run that game at that resolution which lead me to the same blinking screen every second. I would recommend checking GPU VRAM usage while in-game.
