Question Random temp spike

My CPU has recently started getting massive temp spikes out of nowhere, i can run for hours under heavy load with a stable 45-50 degrees, and then suddenly under the same load or even under much lower load, it can just spike to 100 degrees, and at times crash my computer due to overheating.

i have a skylake 6600k processor, the pc is close to 4 years old, and has never had anything similar before recently

Have you made any changes to the pc recently? Phisicaly or in the software.

Check fan and cooling system for the motherboard maybe?
