Random unknown files with random letters and numbers

Hi, i was looking at my external hdd and i noticed a file that has a lock on it and its unknown to me. It has many letters and numbers in a random order and it contains a mrtstub application file. Is this a virus? I read online that its part of a microsoft program but its not very clear. Also another folder like this appeared recently after my windows explorer stopped working. When my windows explorer was working again another file which had random letters and numbers appeared but this time it is empty. Should i be afraid of this? And if so do i remove it and if so how? Please and thank you

I read that mrtstub as something to do with Windows Update so it shouldn't be a problem. You can always scan it to see if the drives infected just in case.
