I have setup the modem to 'Demand-dial routing connections (inbound
and outbound) in the 'Port Properties' in the 'Routing and Remote
Access'. I have no problem in making outgoing call on the modem.
However whenever I dial in with the username and password, my client
reports that:

Remote Access Client attempts to connect over a port that was reserved
for Router only

Modem information the the Port Properties is:
Name: Dynalink 1433VQE (COM1)
Device: MODEM
USED By: Routing

What change do I have to make so that I can connect to my network from
outside? Thanks.

Please find the attached link whihc would expline how to change the port
for the same

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;262357

CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the server's RAS port is not configured to
accept remote access connections.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use the following steps:
Start the Routing and Remote Access administrative tool.
Expand the options under your RAS server's name.
Click Ports, and then click Properties on the Action menu.
Click the appropriate port (L2TP, Modem, PPTP, LPT1, and so on), and then
click Configure.
Click to select the Remote access connections (inbound only) check box, and
then click OK.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

The demand dial connection tries to use "Demand-dial routing ports" However
ras clients use "remote access connection (inbound only)" ports.

Enable them on your VPN server.
To configure the port:

1. Start the Routing and Remote Access administration tool.

2. Expand the options under your RAS server's name.

3. Press Ports and then Properties on the Action menu.

4. Select the appropriate port (L2TP, Modem, PPTP, LPT1, etc...), and then
press Configure.

5. Check the Remote access connections (inbound only) box and press OK.

6. Press Apply.

7. Press OK.
