I just upgraded my rig from 2012 to this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yJZXRJ

Excited to get the parts in! Any thoughts on the build?

I'm a power user / heavy multi-tasker / 20% of the time gamer SO I almost went with the R7 1700 or 2700X to save some cash and hop onto their legit multi-tasking power on a budget.

Intel it is though! Shoot me but I really like the sound of Coffee Lake, perhaps it's because I love coffee. I definitely have the most sound reasoning for choosing between Intel vs. AMD 😛

In all honesty, I live through Adobe products and the research/reviews lead me to trusting Intel > AMD for optimal Adobe use

I've been using my AMD FX-8150 for 6 years now and it's been doing great tbh, almost stuck with AMD just for that reason alone (I like both!). Time to throw my old comp parts into the smallest full ATX case I can find and put it in my entertainment center.

Adobe products do tend to prefer Intel, so there's a solid rationale for your decision...... although love for coffee = buy coffeelake seems reasonable enough

It's a solid build, but will entirely depend on your specific workloads.
16GB may limit you....
A 1080 may (or may not) be overkill/under-utilized.
A 500GB SSD may be sufficient, may not
The RGB nature of the DDR4 seems wasted in a case like the HAF..... but will depend on where you plan to place the system.
You're paying a ~$20 premium for the RGB.... so make sure it makes sense, otherwise a more 'basic' kit might make more sense.

Thanks for the thoughts! I only got the RGB as it was part of my mobo+cpu combo, I don't care about RGB at all. I was thinking the 16GB may limit me too :/ ... Now if I want to put in another 16GB, I have to pay the premium for the RGBs! Bah!

*also with PUBG going running around 20% of the time / 50 tabs open / 3 monitors (only 1080p so I didn't get the TI)

What?!! That's the only thing I like more than coffee!! I'm returning 😛
