Rate My Gaming PC - First Build

Ok...change the ram to be 2x4gb. We want a pair working in dual channel. One stick is not good.

Change the SSD to be a samsung 850 evo. This will give you access to samsung magician and make everything simple go faster relating to the ssd.

I would opt for an i5 4690k and invest in either a bigger SSD (256gb) or a 980 gtx.

Why give him 750 watts when his system draws 350? A 550w PSU is more than enough!

I would not go sci fi and say it will last into 2017 for gaming...that is a long time in game. I built the spec you see in my signature in 2013 and am now on simply "high end gaming" spec.

The above system is the same as mine. Perhaps more CPU power and a 5fps advantage in some games (thx to my crazy OC)

So does that mean you think my system will still be good in 2017 when I can already no longer play many games on everything maxed out on my 2560x1080 screen?

First of all, thanks for taking the time to help me out!

Second, because you chose the i5, do you also agree that an i7 would just be overkill as other people have mentioned elsewhere?

Shadowreaper's system is the optimal 1080p gaming system.

After the above setup, anything you upgrade no longer represents reasonable value for money.

You will be left with marginal returns, for much bigger amounts of cash. The i7 is especially guilty here!
