hi, I am wondering what to upgrade next in the future, based on your reviews and advices
I have :

Haf 922
I5 3570k with Cooler Master V8 at 4.2Ghz
asrock z77 pro 4
Geil Black Dragon 2x4 2133 rams
A-DATA 256 Premier Pro SP 900
Seagate Barracuda 2 Tb, 2 x 3 Tb Western Digital and another old Seagate 500 GB
Seasonic 620W Bronze
EVGA ACX Superclocked 780 (I had Gigabyte 7950 before)
Samsung 24" 1920x1080

Win 7

I play games such as Battlefield 3,4, Watch Dogs. on one monitor, at Ultra settings
Also working on multiple virtual machines with various OS for programming.

Where should I invest next ? I am a bit worried that by this time next year it might start to struggle and I want to know where to put my money to delay that moment.
I am thinking there will come a moment when the 1155 socket will die and it's best to sell the CPU + Mobo and get something newer, but at the moment I dont think that I would see a difference.

Any advices on where my money would be best used in order to keep having a well balanced future proof rig ?

Thanks and regards !

Solution
Well if you want future-proof, my suggestion is to open the way for SLI/Crossfire and CPU overclocking.

If you want CPU overclocking, I suggest get a ASRock Z87 Extreme4 ATX LGA1150 motherboard with Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core and a decent water cooler if possible.

The GPU you have is pretty nice for now, and in the future, you can buy another one and go 2-way SLI with it.

Which brings us to the PSU question. I suggest going at least to Corsair 750W ATX12V / EPS12V which will enable you to overclock and SLI without worry.

The RAM you listed is definitely nice but I have read that more than 1600/1866Mhz on ram fails on cost-effectiveness and performance per buck. Though 8gb is the way to go.

Also, the HDD you enlisted...
Theres really nothing to upgrade here you are set for the next 2 years those newer haswell CPus are pretty much same performance as your old one and it actually overclocks better. IF you want to spend some $ you can buy a 2nd gaming monitor or some good peripherals speakers, etc.

Also, the HDD you enlisted is a bit too much I believe. 2 TB HDD with a 64/128GB SSD will be far better. The SSD you will only use for OS and other programs and HDD to store games, videos etc. If you have not bought them, I suggest get rid of the extra 6TB and go for a SSD.

Solution

Hi,
I have all the enlisted items (I know its a bit weird to have 8 Tb of storage, but two months ago I had 2Tb + SSD and they were full so I went and bought 2x3Tb, one of which is split into multiple partitions each with versions of Linux and windows to test cross platform applications). Also I have a SSD 256 A-Data.
Still I noted that the next logal step should be PSU for SLI, or if money allows Mobo+4770k + PSU + GPU.

Thanks so far.

I was thinking about getting a 2560x1440 monitor, or a 120/144 Hz monitor, but my GPU can't hold 120 fps on Ultra. It would need SLI and a new PSU, so you can see how such an investment is big. I am considering this option if no other weak links are found in the system
Thanks !
