I plan on buying a new PC with my stimulus check. I didn't have the opportunity at tax time to get one. Please note that for the case I want a mesh or perforated full front panel and the keyboard and mouse I don't want changed because the I love wireless and the keyboard and mouse are rechargeable, my old set has lasted me over 8 years. Other than that, I am open to suggestions but have to keep the cost down to under $1200 w/ shipping costs.

Sans mouse and keyboard, it's a pretty average PC. I'd rate it around 6.5/10.
With mouse and keyboard, I'd rate it around 4.5/10 and that's only if you're doing a friend a favor by buying their used processor.

I've never understood why people pay so much for a keyboard and mouse.

I wanted something more modern than what I had and I wanted to try games in 2k or 4k. I'm not worried about refresh rates because my current monitor is only 60hz and I love it for many reasons. Although recently I've has about 3 pixels go dead on it and it's time for a change. I'll just use it as a TV.

I don't understand why it matters so much with KB & M, if you could please explain I would appreciate it. Also this new PC should be several times better than my old one. Also I know it's average but if I saw a better PC build for that price point I might get it, keeping in mind of my preferred parts.

In my opinion (and ONLY my opinion), anyone who spends more than about $30 on a Keyboard/Mouse combo is wasting money. Money that could very well be spent on better components. I know you have your preferred parts, but I don't agree with your priorities.

Your CPU, Keyboard, and mouse add up to $246.
Instead, I'd be looking at a $200 Ryzen 3600X and a $30-$40 Keyboard/Mouse combo and worry about upgrading them later.

I was asking for other to see what they would do, but you gave me some really good ideas about the keyboard and mouse. My current ones work fine except when playing games, keyboard is often completely unresponsive and only slightly with the mouse. I don't know if it's because of their age or what but I just wanted something that I know is reliable. You are right, I could get a cheaper set and I might do that and put the extra money into a better CPU or GPU, not sure yet. But I do thank you.
