Hello.

I built my first computer in 09' and am wondering if there are any areas that I can tweak this system in order to make it last another year or 2 for gaming goodness. I cannot max out BF3 (although pretty close), and get low fps with the new texture packs in Skyrim. Would just like a rating of my current setup and maybe some suggestions to get the most out of it. Also would overclocking the CPU result in a worthwhile performance boost?

Intel core2 Quad 9550 @2.83 ghz (stock)
Gigabyte EP45-UD3P Mobo
XFX 5850 Cypress Black (not overclocked much)
2 2gig sticks of Mushkin Redline Frostbyte DDR2 1000
750 watt Antec PSU
1TB Caviar Black Western Digital hard drive

Again I use this strictly for gaming...

the only thing ATM i see is your GPU; which you can carry over to your next build along with the PSU and HD.

so try looking at a HD 7850, HD 7870, HD 7950 or HD 7970 (pci-e 3.0 is backwards compatible) or the nvidia route of a 570 or 580 if prices drop with the release of the 680.

that might keep you in the "game" for a few more months if not close to a year; i really don't know if its worth Xfiring another 5850.

would oc'ing the cpu translate to better fps?

Definately have a look at a 7870, one of the overclockers in our community got this overclock and no voltmodding.

couldnt hurt, and ud definately see huge increases in a game like... say... starcraft 2

thanks for the responses...guess a newer gpu should keep me safe for a while...and some slight oc'ing
