razer Black Widow 2014 - specific keys not working.

Hi everyone,

I've got a REALLY annoying issue which i need to fix basically I'm really into my gaming, I bought a razer Black Widow 2014 keyboard, I love the keyboard but from some reason i cannot press control (ctrl) and ANY of the top row of numbers, which means I'm lucked out in game if i want to crouch and switch to another weapon, this is in and out of game, so far i have had the keyboard replaced, I have re-installed windows (after this it worked) and now all of a sudden its doing the same thing, this keyboard has 10 presses at a time feature so it cant be hardware limitations especially as it worked before. could this be due to a windows update? as it worked when i first re-installed my OS (windows 7)

Sounds like the board is dodgy or it could be the connector. Re plug it, the 10 key rollover is only on ps2, not usb. That board uses chinese khail switches and is just inferior to other mechanical boards. If re plugging doesnt work test with another keyboard to see if that board wont work. If it does return your board

Ah thank you for that ps2 information. I might have ps2 socket on my mobo with a bit of luck and i'll use an adapter, I'm pretty sure the switch are mx cherry (reds i think?) in the 2014 black widow version? the annoying thing is im going to be walking back into the shop for ANOTHER replacement, but I have the same issue on my PC and my laptop, I have also tried a different usb socket as my motherboard have 2 manufactures, 4 of them are via (yuck) the other 4 are intel which I primarily use for mouse and keyboard.

I have tried other keyboards with no issue.

No the 2014 model has the new "razer" switches that are made in china. Is it clicky or non clicky?

yes so its the khail blue one (switches are green tho), reds are not clicky. Test with another board and see if it works. Are you sure you havent just messed up your keybinds in your games

no this is in and out of game, I have now replaced the keyboard twice reinstalled synapse, tried an older version of synapse, reinstalled OS and im starting to lose patience, the only thing is I dont want to get rid of this keyboard, I actually like it I just want to solve this problem.

sorry just to add i tried a usb to ps2 and the whole keyboard wouldn't work, not even from boot.

my solution was to uninstall razer synapse 2.0

Ok so basically I gave up, i went on holiday for a week, came back and i haven't had a single issue, its just fixed itself..... maybe there was a synapse update that fixed it? if not then it must be the ghost inside the machine lol

I literally just had the same problem with my 'i' key. Part way through typing an email, my 'i' just stopped working. I stumbled across this thread, and it helped me fix this issue (thanks). Hopefully this way I tried will save others some time.

It seems that it is indeed an issue with Razer Synapse. Uninstalling and reinstalling it might work, but I found simply disabling the problem key, saving it, then setting it back to default and saving it, fixes the issue. It has to be disable though; I tried changing it to another function first and then back to default and that didn't work. Fully disable the key, then re-enable it using Razer Synapse, no uninstall, reboot, reconnect, or driver fixes necessary.

I had trouble with the numbers along the top of the keyboard not working only the symbols would work; i pressed the "fn" key and they started working again so i thought i would share this solution encase it can help someone else.

I saw a video on keys not working for it about 2 min ago. It said to unplug the keyboard, uninstall razer synaps, then replug and use. Your choice if you want razer synaps again. The only downside is no macros. But everything else works.

I hadn't tried it myself. I'm just commenting to see if it'll help the guy. My "o" key stored writing after a 2 hours gaming session and I was about to shut down but pressed sleep. So I unslept my build and tried to sign in but the "o" want working which didn't allow me to put my password. So I just shut it down at the bottom right of the screen. I hadn't tried the method. I'm just reporting what some guy said. I'm going to try the method when i wake up. If the key still isn't working.

My fix: I went into Razer Synapse, and my tilde key was actually setup as a Macro!? I'm not sure how that happened, I don't recall ever even loading this program. I clicked on the picture of the key, then set the Key Assignment dropdown to be Default instead of Macro.

THANK YOU!!! This problem has been driving me crazy. Indeed I knew it was an issue with Razer Synapse; I'd open the synapse program and it would go away temporarily. With me, it's the Anansi keyboard...the a, b, g, h and t keys suddenly began acting like shift or caps lock. There were mouse issues too...clicking an icon would select multiple, as though shift was being held, even though I'd not typed any keys after booting the computer. Your solution seems to have fixed the mouse issue as well. The problem was not sticky keys being on, not bad keyboard keys, not a corrupted driver or anything else. It is some software glitch with SYNAPSE. Turning these problem keys disabled, then back to default made the problem go away. (I found out which keys were an issue by going through every key, typing into a text document with the onscreen keyboard running). My fingers are crossed, no issues so far. Bugs must be smashed!!!

My "4" key was not working, I would press it and it wouldn't work. My solution was just changing the colours of the keyboard (if you have Razor Blackwidow Chroma, which I have). You press fn and a number that you set up for a profile, and after that the key started working fine for me. Hope this helped

I just got this keyboard today its ma birthday 😀 and i had the same issue. Go into Razer synapse and you will probably see that the key that isint working is lit up in a different color to the rest. click on the key and set the key to default as it will probably be on macro

my solution was to uninstall razer synapse 2.0

My "F" key suddenly stopped working. When you talked about the Synapse, I went there and found that I had created a macro (I don't know how) which was just blocking my "F" key. Now it's working! Thanks. I haven't imagined that could be something in the Synapse.
