Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Mic not working

So I have the Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma headset. I am not sure how long I have owned these (less than a year I think). Everything has been fine with the headphones until a few days ago. The mic has not been working properly, it's very noisy (sounds like a fan is running in the backgroud) and the only way to hear me is for me to have the mic basically in my mouth. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the headphones several times. I have the mic set as the default with the microphone all the way up. I am not sure what else could be the problem, anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Can you please pass on your full system's specs inclusive of your OS and remaining peripherals connected? It's a USB based device so which port on your system are you powering it off of, USB2.0 or USB3.0? Have you made sure your BIOS and device drivers are all up to date? Speaking of up to date, have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Razer's Synapse utility?

If you're on Windows 10, you'd be best advised to disable automatic device driver updates before you uninstall/reinstall your drivers.
