I just built my system, everything is working except for my headset.

I'm guessing this might have something to do with my ASUS ROG Hero board. Maybe it is clashing with the SuperemeFX audio that comes with the mobo.

Has anyone had this problem and how do i fix it?

That headset runs on USB so it shouldn't interfere with the Supreme FX. When it's plugged, does Windows say new hardware detected?
Try plugging it to a USB 2.0 port not USB 3.0
Go into audio properties and for audio devices select that headset or USB headset, which ever Windows labels it as.

It basically just pops up and says "USB device not recognized" if I go into audio devices in the device manager it does come up as "razer megaladon" but it has that little yellow exclamation mark of doom. I also tried multiple USB ports... 2.0 and 3.0 to no avail.

Yes all USB drivers installed. My razer mouse and keyboard are working fine and it worked fine on my old PC but it's the only thing not recognized on my current PC

Tried updating the firmware, still did not recognize it. Have not uninstalled my USB 3 drivers yet. Any guide on how to do this properly?

When changing to new Notebook with windows 8.1 I had exactly the same problem.
The Megalodon headset was not recognized, except once, but then the driver was not able to start.
There`s a sound blaster creative X-Fi3 on my Notebook. When I disabled the soundblaster, the Megalodon headset was recognized and did work very well.
After that when restarting the system with plugged in headset I again got an error message about the sound device. Now the Megalodon headset worked. But the sound blaster couldn't start.

I fixed the problem by disabling the sound blaster in auto start configuration. Thus I can startup system with plugged Megalodon headset and don't get errors concerning sound device anymore. When using headset after startup there's no action necessary anymore. When using sound blaster I first plug out Megalodon headset and then start sound blaster manually.

Perhaps you have a similiar problem with incompatible sound devices, so check, I hope you'll find the reason for your problem.

razer megalodon is not entirely compatible with windows 8, it says nothing about windows 8 compatibility on the product page on razerzone.com, it has to do with the headset not the computer.

I have the same problem and the same Motherboard (z87 Maximus 6 Hero). I'm running windows 8.1 on desktop and laptop however it is working fine on the laptop. I'm almost sure it is related to the Mobo but I haven't found out yet how to fix it. Did you find any fix for this problem? I'd appreciate it if you can help. Thanks

It seems like were all running into problems with Asus motherboards I have a Z87-K and my megalodons dont work. But they do work on my friends Z77 chipset so it could have to do with the the Z87 based boards.

This is a correct fix for some people, i figured this out myself about half an hour after, I posted, just note that this disables all 3.0 support on your USB's so if youre lacking data transfer speed thats why.

Had this exact problem.
Fix was surprisingly simple for me, considering all the threads i found that mentioned disabling xHCI, and uninstalling a program that was not even present on MY pc.

Go to power options: More Power Options: Change Plan Settings: Change Advanced Power Settings
Expand USB Settings -> Expand USB Selective Suspend Settings
Disable any suspend settings, that are enabled.

The guy who found the fix only had one setting to disable: http://imgur.com/D5NNY80
I had two.

Easy peasy for all those that can't disable xHCI or don't have an Intel USB driver in programs to disable.
Hope this helps! Took forever, but I finally found a fix that didn't require a bios setting or program I did not have available to edit.

Good day Ladies, gentlemen and gamers

Since I didn't Find a proper solution over the web and google
I decided to contact Razor support, and seems razor want to make some extra profit for that they decided to trash Megalodon product in order for you to spend another 150-200 $ for new headset while meaglodon has no issues at all

I copy past there reply below
In short Razor is overrated product , if I'm going to buy new headset I will make sure it's not razor anymore , no more keyboard, mouse or any type of principles I'm really pissed

Hi Ali,

Thank you for contacting Razer Support. My name is Karl and I will be assisting you today.

I am sorry to inform you that the Razer Megalodon headset is not supported by Windows 8.1. Below are the basic requirements that are also stated on the packaging and the master guide.

PC with built-in USB port
Windows® XP SP2 or higher / x64 / Vista / Vista64
Works best with applications that support DirectX® 9.0c or higher.
Surround sound features may not be available in OpenAL® applications

The reason for this is because the headset was released way before the Windows 8.1.
the firmware link below sometimes are useful in resolving similar issues. Please run through it and get back to me with the result.

Hello Humberto,

Please try using your Megalodon with a powered USB hub. This may solve the issues you are experiencing. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I apologize for any inconvenience, and I hope you have a great day.

Ran in to exact same problem (ASUS X-99-DELUXE) after enabling USB S4+S5 suspend mode(in order to disable headset led's after system power off). If i disable it, then it works perfectly fine, however, the headset LED's remain constantly on, even after the PC shutdown. Using a hub(in my case i've used the built-in into a Dell U2410 monitor hub) works relatively okay, until i use the mic in the specific telephony(Avaya) products, then the mic drops out of system and stops transmitting. Thrustmaster had at some point a firmware update, that fixed this issue for TM Warthog throttle( i mean the suspend mode). Razer obviously didn't bother.
So try to disable any power saving mode for USB and most likely it will work.

I have the megalodon, using it since 2010 on windows 7. Since i got windows 8 i cant use them anymore.

HERE IS THE SOLUTION:

BUY A USB HUB 2.0 or 3.0 depend of you.
I bought a cheap usb hub 2.0, plugged my megalodon in it and BAM!!! Works like on windows 7!!!

Hope it works for you guys too!

OK, this is my solution, I'll try to help people who use WINDOWS 8.1 and this RAZER MEGALODON Headset.

Step 1. Download the only Firmupdate (Razer_Megalodon_FirmwareUpdater_v2.12) from Razer Support website,
Step 2. Install the Package (exe file),
Step 3. Go to the driver location >> C: (drive) >> Program Files (x86) Razer >> Megalodon >> FirmwareUpdater >> Driver >> x64 or x86 (mine x64)
Step 4. Double Click the driver ( file : DPInst_amd64) to install into your computer (Right Click Run as Administrator)
Step 5. Do step 2 on this video (hold the center snake your Megalodon headset controller and plug in the usb) reffering Youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmwJcgN8hkU
Step 6. Leave windows scanned until finish the led shown exactly like on this video (at the time you plugin only 7.1 led ON, and after it scanned both 2.0 and 7.1 led are ON)
Step 7. Run the Razer Megalodon Firmware Updater......(it's should work properly)
Step 8. Final Step ... of course UNPLUG and RE-PLUG the USB cable to USB PORT.

I hope its also help you all who using win 8.1 and this awesome headset.

Cheers!
