I have a Dell Inspiron 530s with a Intel G33 onboard graphics card. I recently purchased an AMD Radeon HD 5450 1GB GDDR3 as an upgrade. However, using the PCI express disabled the onboard GPU. In the BIOS, the option to modify the graphics setting is disabled. How would I turn it back on?

Solution
I don't think G33 chipset support both on board and Add-on card together ... once you put the extra card the on board one will disable... Now H61 / H81 / B85 .. these new chipset support ... but not the old G33 ( that is on 2007 )

Dells have a feature called auto detect, go into bios and you should find the option, just set it to whatever you want. But you really wouldn't see a benefit from still having them enabled, the older intel on-board graphics only had like a max of 64 or 128 megs of dedicated memory and really didn't do much, they even lacked at playing 480p videos. Just truest me the old old intel graphics are not worth it even to put some lower graphic loads on.

If you're wanting to run more displays than the 5450 supports, then enabling the onboard graphics makes perfect sense. I had 4 displays running on an old Dell Inspiron (somthing) a while back, 2 from the discrete card and 2 from the onboard.

If it's not for additional displays though, @eatmypie is right.

I just had a flick through the manual for that Dell which is available here by the way: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-support/product/inspiron-530s/manuals

Under "Advanced Chipset Features" you should have "Init Display First", with the option of PCI, Onboard or PCIEx.

I'm guessing you can only select one? So PCIEx should give you the Radeon when it's plugged in, and Onboard (might) give you the Onboard ONLY, or I guess it might give you the onboard "first" and the PCIEx as well, but I'm not sure to be honest.

Init is always a single selection, that is the initial gpu that is powered. Every mobo has that and it's not related to having both on. Many mobos of that time do not have the option to turn on both so there is no way to. Some do some don't; it's luck of the draw.

Thanks for that k1114, good to know.

OP -> looking at your manual there doesn't seem to be any options in the BIOS to enable both, so it looks like @sonexpc is right and you're out of luck.
