Ok. I have been having problems with my win vista pc. It was jumping to blue screen for cache dump all the time. Dont know why. I was advised to do a re-install. So I did one without disk. Half way through the install I got a message that there was an unexpacted error. Could not proceed and have to press ok to restart the computer. Previously that would work. Id press enter and it would restart the attempt. Now itfreezes completely and enter wont work. The only problem now is im having to press the power button for 6 secs then back to the same problem. Cant get past this screen. I have now got a copy of the vista disk to try restarting rhe computer to install from disk but doesnt seem to make any difference.

Any thoughts?

Look At the vista disk does it say Oem or upgrade??? The windows upgrade disks are not bootable. If it the full version or Oem in your bios you have to change the boot order to the cd-rom to be the first boot device. Before you try again open your case ake sure the fans are working..blow out any dust bunnies and Make sure the ram and cards are seated. When you run the windows installer use the advance mode. Format the drive so all the old data gone. If you need your files tell windows to do a clean install and move all your files to a win.bak folder.

Thanks. I have tried this but nothing seems to work. Its a copy of the installation disk from a guy who owns computer shop. Hes helped me out in thenpast but wants £30 just to look at it. I keep going round in circles. 🙁
I have an acer aspire tower. I can press del for setup or f12 for boot menu. Thays it🙁

Try on the next boot up hit f12 then select the CDROM as the boot device.
If the cd rom won't boot. Use another pc and try asking a bootable USB stick. Also look at the cd he gave you if it says DVD r on it see if you have a DVD drive in your old pc. If you don't you need someone to copy the disk to a cd for you. Or find web pages that have the iso to download.
