Hey so hopefully someone can help out I built my computer last year love it but I want to go for a smaller form factor case but. Was wondering what I can and can't reuse I have a i5 6600k 16gb of ddr4 ram power supply hard drive SSD gtx 970 just trying to see what re useable or not please help and if anyone has recommendations of cases and motherboards for a good mitx or matx that would be amazing too I want to put a GTX 1080 in it and still have some okay cooling options

Solution
I usually use a paper towel. Some might say to use isopropyl alcohol to completely remove the old paste, but I find it makes little difference and isn't worth worrying over.
CPU - definitely
RAM - most ITX boards only support 2 sticks, so if it's 2x 8GB, you can reuse it
Power supply - depends on what case you pick, many take full ATX power supplies
HDD / SSD - most ITX cases should support them
GTX 970 - be careful to get a case that's long enough for your card

To answer your question:
A great small M-ATX case is the Silverstone TJ-08E or PS-07.
Either will hold a tall cpu cooler and any graphics card. Good airflow in either.

ITX is a bit harder; cpu cooler is often an issue. Not so much for the graphics card.
Silverstone sugo is good, but will require a low profile cpu cooler.
